Under the scope of the SCORE project, last 30th of April 2016, the Portuguese Sports Confederation organised a Seminar entitled “The feminine side of training”. The seminar was a multiplying actions implemented by Monica Jeorge and Pedro Berjano, the two national mentors trained within the SCORE Programme for Mentors. The Education for Mentors programme had the objective of creating a pool of mentors around Europe dedicated to support female coaches in their work and after his first step held in Cyprus last January 2016, the mentors ahd to implement national seminars to start a mentorship programme within their nationals sport organisations and federations.
The seminar, “The feminine side of training”, it took place in the lovely city of Setúbal, one of the 2016 European Sport Cities, and it’s goal was to raise awareness to the feminine side of training and enhance the difficulties that many female coaches go through in it’s daily work, either at youth or high competitive level.
In the round table took part some portuguese well known coaches like: Anabela Leite (athletics), Juliana Sousa (handball), Mónica Jorge (football SCORE Project), Paulo Paixão (athletics) and Pedro Berjano (korfball and SCORE Project). An international football player, Edite Fernandes, was one of the speakers.
The results of this event will be discussed during the second part of the Education for Mentors programme in Finland on 21st and 22nd of May 2016.
